Condolences to the family and friends. Losing a loved one is difficult. I found that relying on the hearer of prayers helps me immensely. He gives me the power beyond what is normal to go from one day to the next. If you turn to Him in prayer, He can do the same for you.

Dear Pat, Goddaughter Laura, Jeffrey, Kim, and Sara:

Words are never enough to comfort others
those we care about and love leave us. But, in the case of Al, I am sure he would say.."forget about all that, and let's have a party!"

Al has been one of my best friends for
a long time, and it was my great honor to have been his best man when he married you, "awesome" Pat (as he used to say), a joining that had to be ordained by heaven. Then, I was honored again to be Laura's Godfather.
Thank you Al and Pat.

Al and Pat, and their "awesome Laura and Jeff, have kept in contact with me and on many of their visits to NYC we've enjoyed meeting and enjoying each other's company. Like an extended family.

I will miss Al and his "over the top" love of life and his "Hellooo, Douglas" when we met...which washed away any gloomy thoughts one might have had at the time. I treasure his family, so hope to always stay close with them.

Good Bye Al, my old friend. It was indeed one of life's pleasures to have known you and to have been a part of your life and the life of your family.

Love to you Pat, Laura, Jeff, Kim, and Sara.

My first memory of my coworker,Al,is of our water-sampling trip in a canoe down the Coosa River in North Georgia in the late 1960's, soon after we joined the EPA. I enjoyed interacting with Al at work for the next forty years or so. He was always a pleasurable friend and associate. I send my personal condolences to his good wife, Pat.
