Antwan Toney Obituary
Toney died after he was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center, according to the police department. A member of department's Uniform Division, he had been on the Gwinnett County police force for three years.
Police Chief Butch Ayers said Toney was known as "very jovial, very dedicated to his job and to serving his community."
He is the first Gwinnett County officer killed in the line of duty since 1993, Ayers said.
He had just turned 30 years old and was 6 days from celebrating his third anniversary with Gwinnett County police. Toney joined the department on October 26, 2015. He graduated from the Gwinnett Police Academy in April 2016. Toney is from southern California, where his immediate family still lives.

The visitation and funeral services for Officer Antwan Toney are as follows:
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23 2018 at Crowell Brothers Funeral Home, 5051 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, Peachtree Corners, Ga.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct.24, 2018 at 12Stone Church, 1322 Buford Drive, Lawrenceville, Ga.

As like many others I did not know Officer Toney personally, but after reading about him, his life, his passion for what he did and his dedication and kindness to others it truly feels like I too have lost someone very special, along with many others who feel the same. I have no doubt he will continue his watch with light and love from his new home, wherever that may be.
Although he was stolen from us far too soon, his life was and will always be a blessing to us all.

The tragic end to the life of one of America's heroes. Far too young and with so much left to give.
