Mike was one of the kindest, generous and committed people I've ever known. I met him in Charlotte in 1997 when he ran foodservice at Bank of America Stadium and our paths crossed dozens of times from then on. I was there when he opened Murrell's in Atlanta and again when he shifted operations to Morris Brown College and to the theological school. Mike was a regular donor of meals to our volunteers at WCLK-FM during our fundraisers. I even have a friend who Mike allowed to stay in his place during a transition they were dealing with. He was a total gentleman. This loss is deep for me, so I can only imagine how his family must be feeling. Peace and power to them.

I never had the opportunity to meet Mr. Murrell, but I do know that he is a fantastic person. I'm a fellow graduate of North Carolina A&T, and we held our Atlanta Chapter meetings at his AU center restaurant. I'm sending peace and comfort to your family during this time and I know you will be greatly missed. Rest in peace and AGGIE PRIDE!

Michael you are already being missed by me! You were there for me and the Moody family during our time of grieving your Frat brother Calvin Moody. You had hot fried fish and sides for a whole week during that time and you were there every single day making sure all went well! I know you are with Jesus because your heart was full of love!

My heart is so broken to hear this, Mr. Murrell was a wonderful person! My colleagues and I that worked at Familes First would sometimes go for lunch and he always made a way to stop by our tables and make us feel welcomed!

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family!
