As a drummer, I played with Odum a couple of times years ago. I saw him for the last time a couple of years ago at the City of Atlanta Retirees Christmas party at the Piccadilly, and we had a good, long talk. He was a man to be admired not only as a musician but as a fine gentleman. My deepest sympathy goes out to his family. He will be missed by many.

To the family I would like to express my deepest heartfelt sympathy for your loss. I did not read of his passing until yesterday after the funeral service. I would have definitely been in attendance. Mr. Odum taught me how to player the trumpet at Archer High School in 1962 and I went from beginner to 1st trumpet. He was a mild mannered man and was able to play any instrument. He also composed music and was never too busy to listen and give you great advice. We are all blessed to be touched by the "Light" of his life.

To the family of Mr. Bill Odum. I was a music student of Mr. Odum since I was in the fourth grade. He was my area band director at C. W. Hill. He gave us a big cook out at his home because he so proud of us and show us how much. Then he became the choir director when I was at David T. Howard High. He & his band was a very big part of the class of 1975 reunions, he was always there for us and we all loved him. Mr. Odum will be missed by all of us. I want to say that I know that he is playing sweet music in Heaven now. May God continue to bless you all.

To the Family of Mr. Bill Odum, I extend my warm and heartfelt condolence on behalf of the David T. Howard High School Family. I had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Odum on July 18, 2014 at the Cascade Walmart and to have a conversation with him regarding his years with us during high school and he told me that he would try to stop by the Alumni Reunion held last weekend, now I know why he didn't make it there, GOD's date was much more important.
We will keep your family in our Prayers.

Bill I learned so much from you. You exposed me to so many people and places. You graciously allowed me to use my talent and taught me that this music we loved so much was also a business. I watched you compose and arrange music and put together shows for many years. You were a true genius Bill, but yet you stayed grounded. Again, thanks for giving me the opportunity to perform with the Bill Odum Combo. I will miss you but I will take all that I learned from our musical journey together and continue on. Bill we would close every performance with "Good night sweet heart well it's time to go." Good night Bill until we meet again. Avis

A gentle giant who showed so much love. He gave us all he had and made us as a choir want to do more. He knew we loved him and their was no doubt that he cared for us. We now deal with a loss that is hard to bear. Tonite is choir practice nite; we meet to mourn togather and remember.
I am so glad I knew this man, he was God's gift to our church. May God comfort the family and we know we will one day sing praises togather again. Sis . carolyn thompson, Central Christian Church.
