Mrs. Doris Mace Hays, 86, wife of George B. Hays, entered into rest on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at University Hospital.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 11, 2018 in the Rowland-Ford Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Myron Ivey officiating. Interment will follow in Pineview Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Hays was born in London, England on November 15, 1931. In 1957 she moved to the United States, where she lived for 61 years. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of North Augusta. She worked at the Toy Box in Augusta for 25 years. She loved to shop, especially at Belk's. She had a giving heart and volunteered as a Pink Lady at University Hospital. She was a member of the Knitting Club at the North Augusta Bible Chapel. Every day at 4:00PM she had her afternoon tea. She had a warm heart and everybody knew her as their Nannie.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Hays is survived by two daughters, Debbie Grimes (Charles) of Clearwater and Susan Seigler (Bill) of North Augusta; a son, Jim Browning (Tina) of Oak Ridge, TN; two stepsons, Steve Hays and Larry Hays (Sandra) both of Edgefield; fifteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and The Humane Society of the United States, 1255 23rd Street, NW, Suite 450, Washington, DC 20037.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, March 10, 2018 from 6:00 PM until 8:00PM.
