Earl, Deborah, and Zach, I love you all and cannot begin to express my condolences, If anyone in the family needs anything at all from Gainesville do not hesitate to call me (770-561-6313).

I loved Jake like a brother, I will never forget the love that Jake expressed through everything he has ever done and the impact he has had on my life. He was loyal to a fault to the people he called friends and I'm grateful to have been on the receiving end of that powerful love he put out with every action. He was a natural leader, the brightest light in every room, and a flat our hilarious individual. There are so many memories to reflect on but my most fond memory is sharing the baseball diamond with him - he didn't have the most talent in the world but he had an unquenchable thirst for the game which became contagious to his teammates. He played with passion and grit that very few possess, and he also brought his perfect sense of humor to lift spirits when something didn't go our way. We bonded through baseball and carried that comradery throughout life. It was a joy to spend every second we had on the field together. Jake and I later rekindled our friendship after he served in the Air Force. Those days were filled with more difficulty as we were both still trying to sort our lives out. We probably had as many bad days as we did good and without his support, humor, and loyalty I'm not sure that I would have come out of that time period as grounded and enthusiastic about life as I did if it weren't for his friendship. Jake truly changed my life in a profound way; the funny thing is, as I reflect on it now, I'm not even sure if he was trying. He was just himself. Kind, encouraging, and optimistic. Love poured out of him in an effortless manner.

We aren't guaranteed much in this life on earth, outside of tragedy, but if you were lucky enough to know Jake, you were guaranteed one of the best friends anyone could ever imagine. I'll miss him every day but his light will shine on through the people he impacted - myself included.

I love you my brother, I'll see you on the other side.

May Angels guide you to your lofty rest, Jakers. Thanks for being so kind, gentle, loving, and expressive. You were a diamond in the rough, that is Augusta. I am grateful for your friendship. I wish I would have answered more of your phone calls this past week and a half. I would give anything to hear your voice and to hear you tell me things were/are not as bad as they seem. They seem bleak now. But I trust in God. I trust you're with God. And I trust that there is a bigger picture that you were called to fill into. I'll miss you. I hope you save me a seat on that lift you're on :). And to the family, you're in my heart, and prayers. Jake, you'll always be in my prayers. Rest easy, man.
