Albert Catarino
Anthem - Albert Catarino, age 78, of Anthem, AZ passed away peacefully on January 9, 2021. With his son, daughter and close family friend by his side he left this world freed from the fatiguing battle he fought for the past 3 weeks. Al was born in Plainfield, NJ to parents, Ann and Albert Catarino, but lived in Scranton, PA until the age of 8 when the family moved back to NJ. Along with siblings, Michael, Roger and Barbara, Al grew up in South Plainfield, NJ where he fostered an early love and talent for playing music. After graduating from South Plainfield High School in 1960, Al joined the US Air Force which awarded him the opportunity to travel west for the first time. After serving in the Air Force he settled back in South Plainfield and met wife Roseanne Shanni of Westfield, NJ and married in 1971. Al and Roseanne lived in Piscataway and South Plainfield, NJ with their 3 children, Alan, Amy and Jill. Playing music most every weekend Al worked for AT&T and Lucent Technologies most of his adult life before retiring in 1999 and settling in the Phoenix area the same year. Al has always loved playing guitar and singing. He was very prominent in the local music scene where he made and cherished lasting friendships with fellow musicians. Other than playing, talking and living music, his great joys came from spending time with his 2 grandsons, Braden (20) and Connor (19) Ward of Brielle, NJ and Abigail Cummings (6) of Phoenix, AZ. Music minded, Veteran, baseball enthusiast, doting husband, proud parent and adoring grandfather, Albert Catarino has brought great joy and inspiration to all. He will be undeniably missed. With limited capacity, funeral services will be held Sunday, January 17th at 10am at Messinger Pinnacle Peak Mortuary 8555 E Pinnacle Peak Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85255.
