Dear Friends & Family of The Granite Mountain Hotshots,

Words can not express the level of grief that you are still feeling at this time. Such a selfless act is appreciated by those who would never have the bravery to perform the tasks performed by these fathers, husbands, brothers, uncles, and friends. Jesus knew the level of grief you are experiencing because a beloved friend of his died suddenly. Although knowing that Jesus himself could raise a person to live again, Jesus still wept. That is why Jesus was inspired to say: "there will be a ressurection". That time is sooner than we think.

To the family, friends, neighbors and others who loved and miss the Hotshots. Please know that you have been in and will continue to be in the prayers of many. The sacrifice that each member of the Hotshots made that fateful day will be remembered. This knowledge will not heal your broken hearts, but I hope and pray that you will feel God's healing presence with you as you continue to grieve. Love in Christ, Brenda

I heard about it on TV, recently read a more in depth story of this brave, best of the best in training, crew of the bravest, undying loyalty to their crew, group of specially trained firefighters (hotshots) and family men. I cannot comprehend the gravity of the loss of husbands, uncles, sons,& Dads. My son-in-law is a firefighter/medic with his first child being born next week. I pray nightly for all firefighters, police, medics, who protect us daily and all through the night not knowing if like my son-in-law will come home. You're a special group of people and I salute you, pray for you, and will be interested building back of those lost but never forgotten. Thank you for a profession to help the citizens you serve. God Bless you, he enfolds you in his arms to receive you and keep you in the palm of his hands. So many guardian angels for the families and the newly trained hotshots. Never forget, we never walk alone. Many Blessing~~~

The world is full of men, but what of men noble and true?
Can you say that you have known such a man?
These  men are far too few.
But let me tell you a a story,
About a team of men
Who left behind a legacy
That will not be forgotten.
Highly trained,
They  passed every test,
Chosen to fight wild fires,
They  were called the best.
One scorching June day in 2013,
When a wildfire raged
The Hotshots were called upon
 To battle the fiery blaze.
Armed with tools and heavy gear,
They set out in their prime,
No job too hard for these men,
No hill too tall to climb.
Command  was set, plans were made
To tackle the fire's wrath
But winds shifted unexpectedly
And they were trapped in the fire's path.
19 men were caught that day,
The fire drew quickly near
Though they knew they were truly trapped,
Not a one showed fear.
Dig your shelters, men came the command,
Each one knew what this meant
They dug with haste and with one final look
They took to their tents.
Then let us look away,
For we cannot bear
What came to each one next,
Each man endured in those fiery moments,
His final Hotshot test.
And when the aid finally found the men,
The blackened landscape bore
The testimony of death everywhere,
And the men who were no more.
Oh children, your father was so brave,
A man who did his best
In work excelled, he fought to save,
withstanding every test.
Dear widow, may you never shed
another tear at some unhappy strife
For you've suffered enough dread
The day your husband lost his life.
Young sweetheart, your hopes and dreams
Lay in ashes,  from the fire's wrath
May you find hope and dream once more
Though sorrow has changed your path.
Sad mother, your beautiful son,
your joy and your pride
Whom you succored with patient love,
has bravely lived and bravely died.
Two prayers I pray for you, the first,
Though all hope now seem dim
May you have a hope in God,
And place your trust in Him.
Second, May something good,
Something beautiful and strong
Emerge from this tragic loss
From something that went so wrong.
Then like a Phoenix from the ashes
May these men and their noble deeds
Live, for love is stronger than death,
In the lives of those who who stop here to read.

There was a reason why these men were taken all at the same time - I just don't know what that reason was. I'm thinking that they had a bigger assignment and could only pull it off as a team. Their team was chosen because they were exceptional in every way. One day we will understand why this happened. I wish there was a way for me to take your pain away. My heart is so sad for all of the loved ones and friends that were left behind. Honor these wonderful men by being strong and brave during this difficult time. I don't think they would want it any other way. I stand and salute our 19 heroes.

Our deepest sympathy to the families of the brave 19 of the Granite Mountain Hot Shots. Our prayers and thoughts will be with you forever - we will never forget the 19 brave men, their families and the survivor, Brendan. We feel connected to the wildland firefighting family of Prescott. Our son and daughter-in-law are ex hot shots, helitak and presently work in management for the Forest Service at the Prescott fire center. My son was on site at the Yarnell Hill Fire directing air operations and instrumental in getting the men off the hill and home to Prescott. We visit Prescott often since 1992 and consider all the firefighters there our family. May God bless you all and keep you in the palm of HIS hand. We will think of you and pray for all of you every day forever. BE SAFE.

GONE TO SOON

NINETEEN GOLDEN HEARTS STOPPED BEATING
NINETEEN YOUNG MEN WERE LAID TO REST
THEY WERE THE GRANITE MOUNTAIN PRESCOTT ARIZONA
HOT SHOT FIREFIGHTERS
THEY WERE THE VERY BEST

OUR HEARTS HAVE BEEN BROKEN
AND IT IS ALMOST TOO MUCH FOR US TO BEAR
WHEN THEY HAD SO MUCH JOY AND LOVE FOR OTHERS LEFT TO SHARE
BUCKETS OF TEARS KEEP FALLING
AND WE MISS THEM SO VERY MUCH
WE WANT TO SEE THEIR FACES AGAIN
WE JUST WANT TO FEEL THEIR TOUCH

WE DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THEY SUDDENLY HAD TO GO AWAY
BUT WE DO HAVE THAT ASSURANCE THAT WE WILL SEE THEM AGAIN SOMEDAY
IT IS JUST OUR HUMAN NATURE TO ASK WHY THEY HAD TO GO
WHEN OUR HEARTS ARE VERY BROKEN AND WE ARE HURTING SO

THEY WERE NINETEEN OF THE FINEST YOU WOULD EVER WANT TO MEET
SO FULL OF LOVE FOR OTHERS THEY WERE THE VERY ELITE

NO GREATER LOVE HAS ANY MAN THEN TO PUT HIS LIFE ON THE LINE FOR YOU
BUT THAT IS JUST HOW THEY WERE THE BRAVEST AND THE TRUE

THE LOVE IN THEIR HEARTS WAS A LOVE SO RARE
TO PUT THEIR LIVES ON THE LINE FOR OTHERS
SHOWED THAT THEY REALLY DID CARE
OUR LOSS IS HEAVEN'S GAIN EVEN THOUGH
OUR HEARTS ARE BROKEN AND WE ARE IN SUCH PAIN

THEY ARE NOW GUARDIAN ANGELS UP IN HEAVEN ABOVE
WATCHING OVER US WITH ALL OF THEIR LOVE
WE WILL NEVER EVER FORGET THEM AND THEIR GENTLE TOUCH
BECAUSE THEY BROUGHT TO US EVER SO MUCH
SOMEDAY WE WILL SEE THEM UPON THAT GOLDEN SHORE
THEN WE'LL BE TOGETHER AGAIN NEVER TO PART NO MORE

To all of the people, firefighters and citizens of Prescott and the surrounding area and most especially to the families of the nineteen Hotshots:

If there had been any way possible I would have been there to honor these 19 and to assist you in whatever form I might.

It's been extremely hard for me to watch from afar. My wife and I visit Prescott often. My bond with your 19 is also that I am also a wildland firefighter. I have fought fire with fire fighters from all over North America, Australia, New Zealand, our hearts go out to the families, friends, co-workers whom are touched by such a tragedy. The spirit of wildland fire fighting is strong, but so are the forces of nature that we must be vigilant to. I hope that from tragedy some good can come, perhaps lessons learned from this event will save the lives of future fire fighters, the memory of what can occur stays fresh in peoples minds when similiar events start to proceed down a familiar path that ends with fire fighters asking why?
