I am very honored to have been asked to speak about Dave. Today as hard as it is, I know he is looking down on us wondering what the fuss is about. All of us here today have been blessed to have had a relationship with Dave. He will always be in our hearts as a truly wonderful person. Dave and I were childhood friends growing up. He was the Best Friend a girl could ever ask for. This continued over the 43 Plus years that I have known him. He was always there for whatever was needed without hesitation. Not only was he a Best Friend, but Dave was a brother to me as well. He took me to my first concert and he never missed calling me on my birthday. Together we spent countless summers swimming, going to the movies, eating dinners at our parents and riding bikes through the neighborhood. I also remember watching him and my brother climb the church roof and being so terrified one of them would fall. I will always hold these acts of friendship in my heart forever. Thank you Dave for your friendship. There are so many memories I will forever cherish. Although I don’t think that he ever forgave me for eating all his groom’s cake. I would like to share one of my funny memories of Dave. One day my mom and I were out shopping by his house so we decided to stop by and say hello. We knocked on the door but no answer. His truck was in the driveway (Ame was at work) so I tried the door and was surprised it was unlocked. We proceeded to go inside. As we walked down the hallway and passed his room yelling his name, we see him standing on his bed wearing nothing but his tighty whiteys. He was peering through his bedroom window blinds looking to see who was at his front door. We said “Dave”. He jumped in the air with much surprise. After he calmed down, we all had a great laugh. Now, fast forward a few months later. We were in the neighborhood once again and decided to stop and say hi. No answer again. Tried the door and was completely shocked to find he didn’t learn the lesson to lock his door. Yet again, we proceed in. This time we see him in the backyard through his arcadia door. He was outside in nothing but his tighty whiteys again with his dogs and cleaning his pool. He had sausage cooking on the stove, so my mom and I ducked behind a half-height wall and waited for him to come in. Dave walked in to the kitchen. We popped our heads over the wall and said “Dave”. Once again he jumped. We had surprised him and we all had a good laugh. Every time I talked to him after that I would always ask if his door was locked and he would say “yes.” We will continue cherish our special moments with Dave. We have lost one of the good guys. But I know he will be in heaven waiting to be reunited with us all. I’m sure he is playing with Winnie and all his beloved dogs. Dave is loved by so many and will truly be missed. Our world will not be the same without him.

Ame, Jean and Richard, & The Perez family you are in our prayers.
