This is for the parents of Ethan. I have never met him, nor did I know him but I have to tell you my story and how Ethan has made a monumental difference in my life. I am 58 and live in Gilbert. I have been diagnosed with a very rare brain disease called Cadasil. Only 1004 people in the world have it. I was devasted for my kids more than for myself but found I would take to my bed much more than was needed. Then I came upon Ethan's story. You son is responsible for me getting out of bed and for helping me cope with my rare disease. I cannot fathom how a boy (the same age as my son) has LITERALLY changed MY life. If I am lucky or by the grace of God I last five more years, I owe it to Ethan. I will never forget how his courage and acceptance has improved my life greatly. I hope to meet him in heaven and relate to him just what he did for a total stranger. God is great and so was Ethan from all the messages I have read. Thank you for creating this beautiful human being.
With my condolences,

Ethan was always fun to be around. Never a dull moment with him. I will miss him dearly, but I know he is in a better place. I'm thankful for all the memories he's provided me with. He's an inspiration to me and will always try to live my life to fullest like he did.

My daughter graduated from McClintock with Ethan and my son played volleyball with him. I would see Ethan at the games and I have to say he was always smiling and making everybody around him smile. He seemed like a wonderful person. His fight was long and hard, but Ethan was a brave young man. He endured so much. To his family and friends. I know you didn't have Ethan for as long as you should have, but I am sure that the time with him was the most joyous and so full of happiness and laughter. My thoughts and prayer are with you.

I went to McClintock with Ethan and though we weren't close friends, didn't always see eye to eye and he might not remember who I am I would never deny the amazing spirit and passion for life he had. I am so saddened by his passing and pass on my best wishes to his family and friends.

To Ethan's Mom and Dad. What great parents you are to bring up a boy as great as Ethan. I never met him, just seen him recently at Hoodstock. From reading all of these messages I can tell you brought up Ethan to be God's Warrior.

Praying for all of you during this difficult time. Praying for Ethan's soul and thinking how he was like a Saint fighting his cancer with joy. Ethan is a true inspiration for all of us to remember to take whatever God has for us with a lovely stride.

I send my sincerest and deepest condolences to Ethan's family and friends. This young man is sitting high in the heavens, pain free.

I just read about his story on CNN. I'm so terribly sorry for your loss.

I watched the speech video on youtube and it moved me to tears from 3000 miles away. Not because of the circumstance itself, but how he handled himself. He didn't need to be as brave as he was and no one would have faulted him for it. Instead, he stood up and said what he wanted to say.
I'm glad he got to be the one to take out Chuck Norris and Jackie Chan.

"You are an Angel headed for the Land of Sunshine, with fortune smiling upon you" ~ FNM... There's a lot of lucky people in heaven right now who will get the chance to meet you.

God bless you, your family and friends.

Dear Mills' family: I was at Phoenix Children's when Ethan fought his first battle with cancer. I directed the communications department, and I had the privilege of getting to know the young Ethan and meeting you (mom & dad) on multiple occasions. Because I am no longer at PCH, I wasn't aware of his latest battle, and words can't express my sorrow. It is clear that the wonderful child I knew grew into a singularly wonderful young man, and that he touched many lives. My thoughts are with you.

Ethan was a beacon of light, clearing the way and showing others that darkness and unhappiness could be destroyed with a sincere smile and the courage to fight for life. Although I never personally met him he has definitely made an impact in my life. Sometimes people, when faced with distress, fall into self pity-Ethan did not seem like one of them. The first time I saw Ethan was when he walked into my economics class and from the moment he entered the atmosphere of the room entirely changed from dreary to full of life. What I can say, and I highly doubt that I’m alone in this, is that the moment I saw Ethan I felt as if I couldn’t live my life the same again. Like the beacon of light, I saw his courage and innate goodness and instantly dumped all my trivial worries and complaints in the trash, not literally of course. The fog cleared in my mind as I sat in my seat overcome with emotion , not daring to say a word in fear of my voice cracking. Instead I sat and contemplated the meaning of life, yes I know this might sound a bit over the top coming from a student that had just seen the famed Ethan Mills, but I can honestly say that I did in those few minutes rewrite what I planned to do in the future. Life is precious and many people are too busy to fully embrace it. Ethan’s example has taught me to live life to the fullest and appreciate what I have. I will always keep Ethan’s valiant fight in my memory as I am sure many people will. I send my condolences to the Mills family and thank them for the wonderful person they brought into the world.

As a parent of children close to Ethans
age, I find this gut wrenching. God Bless you mom & dad & all of Ethans family members for your strength to carry on & follow through on quite a remarkable young mans vision.
I am one of the pharmacists at PCH who triple checked, entered, mixed, & measured Ethans chemo many times along the way. We work in the backround but it doesn't mean we do not know or understand what a brave & tough fight Ethan fought. His spirit is truly an inspiration to all of us.
What a beautiful child!

I didn't know your son, but admire your parenting, made obvious by Ethan's strong spirit and celebration of life. We know first hand how hard long stays can be at PCH, as even great hospitals like PCH aren't the same as home. I'm sure Ethan entertained a cadre of medical staff there! Wish I had known him here, but will look forward to meeting him later, as he's hangin' with Jesus!
