I have many fond memories of Jay. He and I had a great relationship. He was very helpful to me too numerous to mention them all. Two things for sure I'll never forget is him calling me Miss Marye and loving my soupy grits (smile).

Jay, where do I begin with so much to say. You came into our family when I was 16 years old and our big brother little sis relationship blossomed into a beautiful thing over the years. Our long walks whenever I'd visit AZ, walking the beaches in San Diego and in Hawaii where we'd go the International Market every day. I still have the purple lei you bought me hanging from my rear view mirror. It has gone from car to car but always with me. The wisdom, the love, the encouragement, your men's breakfasts when you'd come up and talk to all the men in the family will never be forgotten. Of course I wasn't there but I'm sure you had everyone's ear for you were always highly respected and a wonderful leader. Listening to you speak on the Lord, your beliefs, family values, your life experiences, finances and how I wasn't doing it right (smile) and when I almost fell out the chair when during a marriage counseling session you asked if I was ready to obey. You being you took me a on a journey I will always cherish. Your love for my sister...You loved you some Cheryl made me appreciate and love you more. You fought a hard battle and was very determined to make certain things were in place just right before you let go. On my last visit in November, as I was leaving, I looked back, blew you a kiss and you raised your right hand and gave a slight smile. Call me what you want....Carmine, Carmen, Blackberry, kid, lil sis..... I miss you already.
