May the God of all comfort strengthen the family during this time of deep sorrow. Those who pass on, God keeps in his memory because they are precious in his eyes. My sincerest condolences. (Psalms 116:15)

My heartfelt prayer goes out to Marie's family and friends...May the God of all comfort be with you during this time of loss...May HE be your strength until the time when HIS promise at Hosea 13:14 will come true and all will be reunited in peace.

Marie was one of the first people to befriend me during my early days of teaching in 1971. Throughout MANY years as friends and colleagues, I enjoyed Marie's intelligence, sense of fun, and her independence in an era when we women weren't supposed to be so self-sufficient. I adored Marie; she helped me during the worst of times and laughed along with me during the best. But the finest thing Marie ever brought me was Mike, her son, whom I also adored. Now---this super-intelligent kid had sarcasm down to a science, and I credit Marie with that! I mean that in a GOOD way. Mike, I am so sorry for your loss. I was at the car dealership this morning reading a newspaper, which I NEVER do anymore, and I saw the obituary. Immediately, I thought of Marie and Mike Long, two of the best people I ever met. My deepest condolences to all who knew and loved her. I am pretty sure it was Marie looking over my shoulder this morning saying, "Joyce, put down that free doughnut and pick up that newspaper, then let Mike know that you still love him!" Hugs to you, Mike, from Joyce. And to Marie, thank you for your steadfast friendship!

Marie and I worked together for several years at Carson Junior High School in Mesa. She was a delight to work with. She loved kids and even more to laugh every day. When she retired I bought her a cake that featured the lady from the cartoon strip Crabby Road. She laughed until she had tears in her eyes. She was a great friend to me and to hundred if no thousands of students in the Mesa Public School system. It was a privilege to have know her.
