Barbara - or "Baba" as she was known to our little girls - was our next door neighbor on Infield Court South. She was a wonderful and loving friend. Our daughters (now 7 and 6) used to go over to her house to play, and she would pull out her collection of toys and we would watch them play while talking politics. . . . Even though she had many grandchildren of her own, she always treated my daughters (and me and my wife) as part of her family - from the day we moved in to the "Lewis house" in 2012 until our last visit to her at Mercy Ridge in Timonium. We miss her very much.

My condolences to her wonderful and loving family.

I remember the very remarkable day when I surprisingly became acquainted to Barbara's son Martin O'Malley - He just had been in Germany twice in his life, he told me. It was in March 12th, 2016. There was much snow in Berlin, his plane was not able to start back to the US. So, Martin stayed in Germany one day morw - and thought about going back to the roots of his German anchesters - descending from his Mother Barbara O`Malley, born Suelzer/ Sülzer. Suelzer / Sülzer is quite a common name in the small community of Kürten / Kuerten, North Rhine Westphalia, near Cologne. Formerly, Barbaras German anchesters all have been farmers at Kuerten-Schwarzen.
I am a historian and Kuerten's archivist. So, when Martin has been talking with the Maire of Kürten, I looked through the historical documents in the archive for to find the birth document of Barbaras father - grandfather Georg Sülzer. We were lucky: We found a lot of Suelzer documents - and Martin found his German roots: I will never forget this wonderful encounter with him in Kuerten's town hall!

Dear Martin O`Malley, you and your famliy lost your honorable Mother Barbara just during a time space, wheras the democratic constitution of the US has been dramatically on its trial. Just at that very day, your beloved Mother has gone into heaven's peace: Let us find the peace which our natzions - Amercia - Europe - nowadays urgently need. By my condolence, let me please express my deepest sympathy.
