Dr. Carpenter most definitely left a wonderful loving mark on this world!

Dr Carpenter came to MIRIAM Hospital In 1986 as an already distinguished and internationally recognized leader in the field of Geographic Medicine which addresses world-wide illnesses and pandemics. He was among the first leaders in the field of Infectious Disease to focus his efforts on HIV infection particularly among women and those in prisons. He quietly but with great purpose helped to make steady progress to combat HIV infection and enlist and train a cohort of physicians and nurses and other health care workers who will continue to carry on his effort and commitment based on his inspirational leadership.

May God comfort you as you live without the physical presence of your loved one. God gave him an incredible life and mission on earth accompanied by his loving and supportive family. I came to know of him through the obituary that I just happened to read. What a "Call" and what a fulfilled life. May the Lord bless all of you. Willa McNeal Birmingham AL
