Peter Worthington Obituary

Peter Laurenson Worthington Jr. and Victoria Shannon Worthington Lakeland - In the early hours of Christmas Eve, Peter Laurenson Worthington Jr. and his beautiful new bride of six months, Victoria Shannon Worthington were killed in a plane crash in Bartow, Florida. Pete was born in 1990 in Baltimore, Maryland to his father, Peter Laurenson Worthington and his mother, Jennie Clark Worthington. He graduated from McDonogh School in Owings Mills, MD as part of the "Fab Fourteen", having attended for the full 14 years. His strong group of McDonogh friends participated in his wedding this past June. He received his undergraduate degree in business as a member of the class of 2013 from Clemson University of South Carolina. He was a devoted member of the Delta Chi fraternity and his Delta Chi brothers have been an integral part of his life for the past six years. It was at Clemson that Pete found his bride Victoria, during a year when they were both taking summer classes. Pete was in his final year at the University of MD Carey School of Law the when he passed. He was externing at the University of MD in their Sports Compliance Department which was a job he highly enjoyed and hoped to continue after graduation. Pete was a kind and loving friend co-worker, cousin, brother, and son, with a phenomenal sense of humor and a great eye for the extraordinary. He is survived by his sister Sarah and his brother Robbie, his mother and father and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and three grandparents. He will be missed beyond measure. Victoria Shannon Worthington (Tori) was born February 2, 1991, to her father, John Hugh Shannon and her mother, currently, Lavinia Lewis Kinloch in Lakeland Florida. She graduated from Lakeland High School in 2009 and then headed north to attend Clemson University of South Carolina. While there, she earned a degree in English and was a dedicated member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She had an amazing group of sorority sisters and close lifelong friends who were by her side at her wedding. Tori attended the Johns Hopkins University School of Education earning a masters degree in teaching and she was currently working as an English teacher at the Baltimore International Academy in Maryland when she passed. She loved her job and particularly the children she taught. She was looking forward to watching them grow in the years to come. In June of this summer, Tori tied the knot with Pete, and they celebrated the occasion with their many wonderful friends and loving families. It was a most joyous time of fairytale proportions. Tori was a sweet and generous soul who brightened everyone's day just by being around. She is survived by her mother and stepsister, Chevis N. Shannon, Brentwood, TN. She will be dreadfully missed as she has left a gaping hole in the Worthington family which she joined just six short months ago. Most sadly, her father and younger sister Olivia were also killed in the plane crash. They too will be missed. Memorials may be made to The Clemson University Foundation Scholarships Fund, www.Clemson.edu/Isupportcu. Two memorial services will be held, one in Lakeland, Florida, and one in Owings Mills, Maryland. The details are as follows: Lakeland Services will be at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 4450 Harden Blvd., Lakeland, FL 33813, on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at 10:30 am. Owings Mills Service will be at McDonogh School, 8600 McDonogh Road, Owings Mills, Maryland 21117 on Sunday, January 7, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. with a reception in the Library of Allen Building. Followed by a 2:00 p.m. memorial service in the Ceres Horn Theater. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.heathfuneralchapel.com

Not sure what to say?

Hi this is a message that I would like to get to the families of both Peter and Victoria as I don't know how to reach them.
I am a diehard Clemson Fan, one of the things I do for home games is bring a 32 foot inflatable tiger to all the home games at Clemson. Tori and Peter may have seen him, we are based at Brooks Center for the past few years and we had a smaller inflatable tiger in Lot 13 for awhile. To cut to the chase, I already have one letter on the tigers chest a "G" for a young Clemson fan who passed at the age of nine, his name was Grier Christenbury, Dabo knows him well and Dabo has a poster of this young man in his office. Grier died of neuroblastoma. This year I am adding another letter for another Clemson fan, a "K" for Keith Herron who passed away while undergoing open heart surgery, he was 49. While I enjoy and everyone enjoys the inflatable tiger, when people ask I like to talk about Grier and his disease that he lost the battle for, and now I will be talking about heart disease in honor of Keith. That said, reading about the bride and groom, and how they were so fond of their time at Clemson, I am asking if they would like me to add their two names to the inflatable tigers chest.
It would be a P&T W, as way to recognize their love for each other and their love for Clemson.
If they would like to contact me as I will not do without the families permission, my cell number is 704-906-9506.

We've known Peter since kindergarten, and through his graduation from Clemson; a finer young man never walked this earth, and with his lovely bride Victoria by his side they will be missed yet remembered always.
As you learn to live with the grief of their passing, may you find comfort in the love of family, friends and faith in God..

My sweet Tori- a natural teacher from the first time I observed her in her internship and a generous member of the cohort who looked out for everyone. She lived for her kids and for Pete- may they both rest in peace.
