I extend my sympathies to his family. He started my love of biology so I became an oral biologist. I always strive to make it simple and yet elegant in biologic descriptions in my writings as he taught us. His legacy is with us all.

Most family members called him "Dixie." He would answer to any "name" always with a big smile and a kind word in return. He and Aunt Joy were always there for anyone who needed help, and always generous with their time & resources.
I was very proud and happy to call him my "Uncle Dixie," He was a great guy. He created so many memories for all who knew him!

There was no greater Uncle on this earth, so many fun memories and times spent in the U.P. and beyond. Uncle Dick always had a nickname for every child and loved nothing more than having his family around him and it showed. Never without a smile on his face, he will always be remembered with love.
