Harold was a cheerful and amiable friend from St. Joseph parish. We golfed together in the St. Joe golf league and saw each other weekly at Mass. He was very proud of his boys and his long service at Kellogg's in the skilled trades. My father-in-law, Don Cripps, had a long association with Harold from Kellogg's as well as a common connection to Australia. My mother-in-law was an Aussie war bride and Harold's son is a university professor in Melbourne. They had a good natured one-upsmanship about who had taken the most trips to Australia. When talking about our one trip Downunder, Harold would always proudly hold up his hand with five fingers splayed out to show that he won the "most trips contest." He was so independent and would always drive himself to church even in the foulest weather and wouldn't take an arm for steadiness though he did use his cane in later years. When we visited him in his care facility in Kalamazoo, he would try to take off his oxygen tube despite the many signs plastered on the walls by the staff: "Harold, DO NOT take off your oxygen!" His happiness and ease of manner made him easy to be with and he seemed to be very content with his life. We will miss him.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time of sadness. What a wonderful man I'm so glad I was blessed to know him. Rest in peace Harold now reunited with Val. Always Pat Vandeburg

I am sorry to hear of Harold's passing. He was a very good friend of my Dad, Robert Miller. They worked together at Kellogg's. They looked forward to their yearly Coho fishing week up at Plat Bay. I would like to think they are planning a fishing trip now. My Harold Rest In Peace

Sending condolences to your family. Your parents were always so nice when I would run into them. It sounds like they had a full and wonderful life together.
