STEPHEN WAYNE SMITH
Stephen Wayne Smith, age 70, passed away from complications of Lewy Body Disease, on April 30, 2021. He was surrounded by family and loved ones.
He grew up in Perry Florida. He then pursued a master's degree in arts, from Florida State University.
Following graduation, Steve taught English and the Humanities at FCCJ for a few years and then transitioned into Travel Industries sales positions beginning with airline sales. His greatest sales achievements were in the Cruise Line Industry; Norwegian, Regent, and Oceania Cruise lines to name a few. His achievements included many sales awards, the most outstanding was "Salesman" of the year at Norwegian Cruise Lines.
His life passion was music. He played in multiple local bands, the Exceptions, Stingrays, Fugitives and Gastric Juices. He wrote and recorded music throughout his life. His acclaimed masterwork being the soundtrack, Ancient Mariner (a tribute to the poem "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" by the English poet Samuel Taylor Colelridge.)
His major interests were traveling the world, sailing, playing and coaching tennis and achieving a blackbelt in taekwondo.
Steve is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Lisa Smith and their dog JoJo; his biological mother, Marilyn Jackson; his cousins Marny Wills, Moissant Smith, Linda Roberts and Susan Vadencourt.
The family would appreciate contributions to Community Hospice in leu of flowers or gifts.
