David George Akre was born on September 1st, 1955 in Bellingham, WA to Earl & Norma Akre. He passed away unexpectedly January 16, 2019 in Kalaheo, Kauai. Dave is survived by his wife Julie, son Bryce, daughter Kelli (Arin Smith), brothers: Darryl (Brenda), Dean (Debra), Dan (Anita), Doug (Treena), Grandchildren Lillian, Makaila, and Alexander Akre. Also, many nieces and nephews. Dave married his high school sweetheart and they contributed their forty-two year marriage to their love for each other and faith in god. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. They called the Pacific Northwest and Hawaii their home. Dave was a genuine caring and compassionate man who became friends with whomever he met. He was always willing to lend a hand and share his skill of carpentry with others. Dave enjoyed sports, being on the water, fishing, crabbing, & spending time with the ones he loved. He was a beloved classmate of the Sehome High School class of 1974. He will be truly missed by all. Please join us in celebrating David's life Saturday, January 26, 2019 at the Bellingham Ferry Terminal at 1pm. Please help us honor him with stories and memories.

We are all here for a 'short time'. The key is to love and remember all, those with us and those that have passed away. Thank you for this opportunity to remember Dave--a brother in the Lord.

David was one of my best friends for years and years. We grew up together. He was sweet and kind, even back then in the 50s. It sounds like he had a wonderful life, and a beautiful family. My prayers go out to his family and friends.

Losing a loved one is never easy, but our loving God promises to give the strength and courage you'll need to endure, and to cope with the pain of your loss. He also promises to hold your hand every step of the way. (Isaiah 40:29, 41:10, 13) May loving memories also sustain your family during this difficult time. Ann Smith

Growing up, I felt like a 'big brother' to the Akre boys. Then when David & Julie came back from Hawaii--I was privileged to be their insurance agent. David was one of the kindest persons you could get to know.
May God bless the memory of David Akre.

So sad to hear of Dave's Passing. Firstly my Heart felt prayers to Julie and the Family. Dave was my step uncle for a spell as his mom Norma married my Grandfather Guy Foster. I recall all the Akre boys with fond memories in that time span. Dave though was one that continued to come around the farm on occasions and lend his skill and hands on of all things building projects on the farm. I had the pleasure of assisting in those projects and working hand in hand with Dave to get the job done. A skilled craftsman, Sportsman and I'm sure most of all a family man. Its been many years since I've seen Dave but never forgotten those times. I shed a tear as I write as I truly enjoyed his company when I was young. To Darryl, Dean, Danny,& Doug thinking of you all. I looked up to you as a young lad. Thanks for the memories. My prayers to you all from across the miles. God Bless will miss you Dave

Dave, you were the best. I had great times playing baseball with you and coming up with our pre-game warm up toss game called "21". (We should have patented it.) Julie, my condolences to you and your family. He was a good guy and brought joy to many folks.
