I met Dave in summer 2016. Both in person and by email he was gracious and patient in answering questions I had about historic rifles. I won't forget his kindness and generosity to someone he barely knew -- the mark of a true gentleman.

Of all the people I have met in Life none compared to Dave Braun. He was such a wonderful kind person. He was the Zen Master of sorts. He taught us all how to be a student of the world. The lessons we learned from him not only taught us about the world around us but created a drive and desire to want to learn more. He was a unique individual who inspired many to open thier minds to so much more than just science. People pass thru our lives everyday but very few leave footprints in our hearts, minds and souls like he did. He is an inspiration to us all. My prayers go out to all whose lives he has touched. I shall miss him forever.

The most inspirational teacher I've ever had. I have not stopped talking about him since I left his classroom. A very wise man who will be missed dearly. My condolences to his family, friends, and students. RIP, Mr Braun.

I didn't realize it at the time, but Mr. Brauns classes were my favorites. After the military I pursued a career in science and always had his earth science and astronomy classes in the back of my mind. I very distinctly remember his love of Hawkins rifles and geology. I went with his science club to southern Illinois and my Brother Mike Eikey, who is 8 years younger than I saw the slideshow from that trip. That Mr Braun left an indelible impression on me is an understatement. I will surely cherish his memory.

One of the few teachers that I remember anything about. He was a great man/neighbor/teacher/friend!

Dave was an extraordinary person. He was a gentle presence on this planet, and he will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Dave lived behind me in Goose Lake. He was the most interesting person I have personally known. He got me interested in black powder rifles and helped me build mine which is still hanging on my wall. I found a racoon, a mink, and a beaver all hit by cars and we tanned the hides, there still in my possession. We would try experiments in our back yards. From small bombs made with black powder to napalm. We played around with some of the first lasers to looking at the stars.
I know he well be missed out there in Washington as he is here in Illinois. RIP Dave!!

One of the first teachers to spark the Science bug in my life, for a lifelong pursuit of knowledge. The world is a smaller place.

David Braun is responsible for my never ending desire to understand how everything works. Of all teachers I had in school he was the most inspirational, occasionally in the 25 years since he left to Washington I would remember parts of conversations we had. He definitely made an impact in my life. I will have to visit his Art work in Montana next time I'm out there.
