Frederick J. Conforti

Frederick J. Conforti, 89, passed away on July 30, 2016 at Merry Heart of Boonton Township, NJ.He was born in Paterson, NJ and lived in Hawthorne, NJ, for 55 years prior to moving to Denville two and a half years ago. He attended Stevens Institute of Technology in 1955 where he received his machinist license. Fred worked as a machinist for Continental Can Company, Paterson, NJ, for 35 years as well as Precision Screen, Hawthorne, NJ, for 10 years until his retirement in 1992. Fred was a member of St. Paul's Church, Prospect Park, NJ, prior to moving to Denville. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus where he held the offices of Grand Knight and Financial Secretary of Msgr. Brestel Council #5920. He was also active in the Paterson Diocesan Federation and a 4 th Degree member of the Msgr, Stein Assembly. He served as Master of the Fourth Degree and was very active in degree work, serving on all four degree teams. He served in the US Navy during World War II. Fred is survived by his son, Dr. Fred Conforti and his wife, Ann, Great Barrington, MA, and his daughter, Gloria Carvagno and her husband, Tom, Boonton Township, NJ. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Diane Carvagno, Boonton Township, Tom Carvagno, Rockaway Township, and Olivia Conforti, Great Barrington, MA, as well as 12 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Margaret (Biagi) Conforti, in 2015 and by his six brothers and two sisters. FUNERAL NOTICE: Family and friends are welcome to gather on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main St., Madison, NJ 07940. A Funeral Mass for Fred will be celebrated on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Virgil's Church, Morris Plains, NJ. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Magnificat, Kinnelon, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Department for Persons with Disabilities, a Catholic Charities Agency, 1 Catholic Charities Way, Oak Ridge, NJ 07438.

Gloria and Fred,

We know that it is with great sadness that the Conforti family has faced the loss of their father. You all are in our thoughts and we send you my prayers hoping they may be of some comfort. Fred and Gloria, I am so sorry to hear about Fred's passing, I loved talking to him and your mom almost on a daily basis. They were to greatest. I was glad to be there for them if they ever needed anything. I am sorry, I cannot make the wake due to work commitments, I will truly miss him. Thanks, Tony
