Roger was always full of energy: a gifted teacher and a great favourite with pupils at Stratton. I learned Latin from him, he coached me in rugby and he was (I believe) one of the founders of the Variety Society. We corresponded for many years, and then there was silence. Letters to him weren't returned and now I know why - the awful tragedy of Alzheimers. Betty, please know he is remembered with great affection. He was an inspiration.

So sorry to hear the sad news about Roger Lambert. I remember his arrival at stratton School as Latin master, so young and different to his predecessor.
Despite my total inability to grasp the Latin language he remained patient and kind. I will always remember him with great fondness.
My thoughts are now with Betty, also an inspirational teacher, who also enriched my happy time at Stratton. I will be thinking of you.

My thoughts are now with Betty, also a wonderful games teacher, also remembered with great respect and fondness, especially during my time in the rounders team!

I remember him as a wonderfully inspirational teacher, whose enthusiasm was boundless, not only for Latin, but also for so many other topics. He taught me both O level and A level Latin at Stratton School and made every lesson stimulating, challenging and enjoyable. I have so many lovely memories of him and know that I was very privileged to be taught by him.
