Addie Dennis went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 5, 2019. She is preceded in death by her parents, nine brothers and sisters, her husband, William Herbert Dennis, her daughter, Dorothy Sturges, and her daughter-in-law, Clara Dennis. She is survived by her sons, Gary Dennis, and Ralph Dennis (Beth), eight granddaughters, twenty great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. A native of Marbury, Alabama, she has resided in Shannon, Alabama since 1941. Upon moving to Shannon, she joined Shady Grove Baptist Church and has been an active member serving in numerous roles throughout the years such as church secretary, head of the prayer chain, WMU director, and Sunday school teacher. She was Lunchroom Manager at Shannon Elementary School and retired from the Alabama Board of Education. She played a major role in making sure no child in her community went hungry due to wars, economic crises, or other trying times. Her hobbies included working in her garden, quilting, cooking for others, keeping up with those she loved, and being the boss. She greeted everyone with a hug and a kiss, ready or not. She will be remembered most for her love of the Lord, her obedience to His Word, and how her faithfulness encouraged and uplifted everyone around her. Her faith has become sight and she is safe in the arms of her Savior. A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2019 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover, AL. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm on Monday, September 9, 2019 from the funeral home chapel. There will be a one-hour visitation prior to the funeral service. Mrs, Dennis was the quintessential grandmother. I enjoyed seeing her at many Grandparent's Days at Shades Mt. Christian School. What a pleasure to be acquainted with such a loving and faithful woman of God! Much love to the whole Dennis clan.

I loved Mrs. Dennis. I was most likely the only student that when to Shannon Elementary that didn't like butter on her famous rolls. She would save me one without butter daily!!!! That is the attention she took to each student in the school. She loved us all and we new it. She helped us all with fund raisers when we got into higher grades. Her famous catchup and mustard sauce made hotdogs the bomb and we sold thousands of them over the years!!!! We will all miss her and strive to use all the wonderful examples she left with the lucky ones that new her. I love you and miss you already, Debra Spain Hammond

In 1948 l started school at Shannon in the first grade. I can still remember some of the kind, uplifting comments this precious lady would make to me. She was always smiling. And she never stopped loving all of us Shannon kids. I love you Ms Dennis. And l have to tell you one more time, you made the best bowl of soup, and the peanut butter balls you served with it, they were top of the line. Rest now, but keep watching over us!

PRAISE THE LORD!!!
You have fought a good fight and finished your race and are now in the presence of the LORD!
What a powerful testimony and example you have been and how many lives you've touched by your sweet spirit and reflection of GOD's love, mine being one of the many.

I loved Ms Dennis. My daddy, Raymond Carter is one of the ones she made sure he had food in school. Through all of the years until his passing he would always comment and reminisce about her pecan pie. He said it was the best he ever ate. No telling how many pecan pies she made for daddy all of those years. I miss you already Ms Dennis. My thoughts and prayers are with all of the family and friends including myself. It's just sad she is not here anymore. She has been all of my life. Hugs to family.
