Hey,I don't want to think of this as a sad memory or sad event. We talked a lot and I know that you were prepared to see our father. Not to say that I'm not going to miss you. Because I already do. You told me that you would wait for me and hold on until I got down there for my vacation this mont. We talked and looked forward to seeing each other again as the months passed. You had your good days, and you had your bad days, but inspire of it all you would count it all joy, no matter what you were going threw, you would say I thank God for being alive. That was really inspiring. I've known you, and you've been there my whole life since I was a child of 10 yrs old. Not only were you like a mother to me, but you were my mentor. You instilled in me that what ever I wanted to do I could. You used to pinch me in class, when I would act up or get out of hand, with a smile. I would get mad , but your smile told me that it was done by with love, and that lessened the pain. We have so many memories together, that I will forever cherish. Can't imagine you not being here anymore. You stopped by to see me once more, to say goodbye and told me that you were gone home to be with the father, a tear ran down my face, and that's how I knew that you were no longer here. I called to verify that quite still voice that came to say goodbye to me, and found that it was you. And I thank you that I have that part of you to hold on to. You're no longer here but you'll always be in my thoughts. I can't measure you up,cause you're in a class all by yourself. You belong up there, with Mayou Angelo, Rosa Parks and all the great women that left their stain of greatness on the lives that they touched. Because you Barbara Jean Heflin, are pharnomonal. I love you and I know that you're sitting on the right hand of the father and looking down at us. See you on the other side. Goodbye.

Mrs. Heflin was a sweet, soft spoken lady who loved children. I worked with her for many years at Dupuy Elementary School. Her smile would light up a room. May the Lord grant your family peace and strength during this difficult time. Rest Mrs. Heflin for your work on earth was not in vain.

We do not have words to express our sorrow for the loss of such a beautiful soul. The legacy of the Hurst and Heflin family will always linger in the hearts of the Morning Star Church Family.
