C. W. Manasco, Jr., 94, of Birmingham, AL passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 25, 2021. C. W. was born July 10, 1926 to C. W. Manasco, Sr. and Elva Patton Manasco in Nauvoo, Alabama. From an early age he learned the importance of hard work and citizenship, which remained core values throughout his life. C. W. proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II, serving on multiple attack ships patrolling the coast of New York to Cuba. After military service, he worked as an Alabama Highway Patrol Officer followed by a long career as a detective with the L & N and CSX Railroads. C. W. was a loving husband of 73 years to his beautiful wife, Betty Vickers Manasco. He was also a devoted father and proud pawpaw. C. W. was an avid reader and was known for his love of learning. C. W. prioritized his faith and spent time with God each morning. His love and generosity were shown through the many hand-written notes he wrote to friends and family. C. W. had great respect and appreciation for nature. He enjoyed gardening, bird hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. C. W. cherished his brother and eight sisters, remaining close with them throughout his life, and loved his precious nieces and nephews. C. W. was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Vickers Manasco. C. W. is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Austin Snow of Pelham, AL; granddaughter and her husband, Kimberly and Michael Roberts of Katy, TX; great-granddaughter, Ella Grace Roberts. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday, March 6th at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, Pelham, AL. Reverend Rick White will officiate.
