I just called his office to speak to him and found out that he had passed away. Mr. Despinakis was a nice man. May Allah be pleased with him. Amin.

I only recently heard of his passing. He was a neighbor of mine for 15 years. He had great stories and even when he was in one of his crankier moods, it made me laugh. I regret I didn't get a chance to tell him goodbye when I moved last year or have one last cocktail with him. He was the definition of a true gentleman. Condolences to his family and Babs...he spoke fondly of all of you!

I only learned in the past couple years, I was related to Greg. We were both surprised. He passed on some genealogy information for our family, that I didn't know.
Wish that 58 years ago, when we first met, we would have talked about Haraka, Lakonia, GR., a little tiny village, in the mountains of the Peloponnese, where are ancestors came from to America.
So glad I saw him again in Birmingham, AL., this past February. We had dinner at Fancey's on Main.
I have a recording of his voice when he first called me. He learned of our relationship through Ancestry.com.
I'm going to miss his beautiful voice and southern accent.
My condolences to Greg's family.
May his memory be eternal.
