I express my condolences to the entire Laney family. I met her through my work at BellSouth with David, and I know she will be missed.

I first met Helen in 1972. She and I shared the new titles of 'Mrs. Laney', because we both had recently married Laney Boys(1st Cousins)... David & Wayne. We two 'Brides' also shared an adamant love of Teaching, Sewing, & Learning to Cook. But, by far - Teaching and Mentoring Gifted Young People was our favorite thing !!! So, God in His great wisdom, blessed us with three Talented and Gifted Sons! We both are so thankful for Christopher, Michael and Matthew's achievements! What joy they brought, and continue to bring, into our lives. The last time I saw Helen we were both grieving over the loss of her beloved Father-in-Law / my beloved Uncle Cecil. Even then, she tried to comfort me. My heart was blessed by her sweet, infectious smile, her caring disposition and her positive remarks. My life was enriched by knowing Helen. My prayers are with David, Chris, Michael, their sweet wives and of course, those super talented and gifted children, who are carrying the 'torch / legacy' their Great Grand Parents, Grand Parents, and Parents have instilled in their lives. Look out Folks... A new Generation of Laney's are making their mark on our World, and Helen V. Laney couldn't be more proud !!!

Helen was such a joyful, loving person. I enjoyed being with her in our UMW Circle 1 at Vestavia Hills Methodist. Our deepest sympathy for the family, I know she will be missed.

Helen Laney was an advocate for her two sons Chris and Michael during their years at Bluff Park. She was such an Inspiration! A great advocate for the Gifted Program. I feel so blessed to have known her later through Vestavia Methodist! I remember she said once, Each day is a special gift! Thoughts and prayers for the family of this wonderful person!
