I like to send my condolences for Mrs. LaVerne Chatmon Jackson. I remember Mrs. Jackson as being a class member of my late grandfather, Mr. Edward Johnson and her late husband, Mr. L Jackson. She was an active member of the Parker High School Class until she married her husband and moved to Georgia. I remember that Mr. Jackson called his classmates when Mrs. LaVerne was a little homesick from Birmingham after moving. Mrs. LaVerne was so important to her Parker classmates that they rented a bus and took a trip to Georgia to spend the day with her and her husband at their home. My grandmother, Mrs. Blanche Johnson also sends her condolences because Mrs. LaVerne Jackson treated her like she was a part of the class. It is a blessing to know that God granted Mrs. Jackson 100 years because I believe God had a purpose for her to live that long. I am happy to know that she lived that long seeing that I have a 99 year old grandmother. Again, I send my condolences because I know that she was special to her classmates and my grandparents. God bless her still in heaven.
