Lara Hoskinson, "The Book Lady" passed away on Sunday morning 1/21/18 at 86 years young. Her life was full and varied. Prior to her moving to North Carolina she had been a nurse since 1952, working in many hospitals in New York City. She also taught and mentored nursing students, many of whom became her lifelong friends. Lara always wanted " to make a difference in the world". She touched many students' lives who continue to carry on her legacy. After retiring from nursing, she moved to Hendersonville, NC. Here she opened "Recycled Paperback Books", thereby becoming "The Book Lady" and again touching many lives by opening them to the world of books and reading. She is survived by her life's partner, Eunice Stewart, her sister, Mary Ann Hoskinson and sister in law, Janet Munn of Wilmington, NC, her nephew Thomas Hoskinson and his wife Kathy of Canaan, CT, her niece Dr. Kathleen Chaimberg and husband Mark of Etna, NH, and her nephew James Hoskinson and wife Carolyn of Silver Spring, MD. Per her wishes, there are no calling hours. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Covenant House.
