SHAUGHNESSY, Helen M. (Bailey) Age 95, of South Boston, died peacefully and surrounded by love on May 1, 2021. She will be joyfully reunited with the love of her life and husband of 49 years, Joseph, and four beloved children who predeceased her, Arnold, William, Jacqlyn and Edward. Devoted mother of Joseph B. and his wife Dianne of Canton, Cindy Shinners and her husband John of Marathon, FL, Margaret Lynch and her husband Congressman Stephen Lynch of South Boston. She was loving "Nana" to 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Daughter of the late William and Helen (Waldron) Bailey. Dear sister of the late Marion Lukash, Margaret Garvey, Claire Reale, William, Edward and Arnold Bailey. She was a Gold Star sister. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Helen spent her life in devotion to her family. She gave her life, love and heart to those around her. Her favorite activities were anything that involved creativity, imagination and a glue gun. She loved to decorate her South Boston home for the holidays, particularly Christmas when she spent months preparing her spectacular displays. She was an avid seamstress, sewing everything from wedding gowns to first communion dresses and was blessed with a restless creative spirit to "make things" that carried throughout all of her 95 years. She will be sorely missed but more joyfully remembered. "I love you the most. 241" Visiting Hours at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 146 Dorchester Street, SOUTH BOSTON, Wednesday, from 4-8PM. A Funeral Mass in celebration of her life will be held at Gate of Heaven Church, 615 East Fourth Street, South Boston, Thursday at 10:00 AM. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury. Relatives and friends are invited to attend all Services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be make to the Thomas J. Fitzgerald VFW Post 561, 715 East 4th Street, South Boston, MA 02127.
