SPILLANE, John F. Sr. Of Quincy, died January 21, 2021.

John adored his family, especially his wife and children. He was a devoted family man and was happiest sitting around sharing stories and laughs together. His wife Joan was the love of his life and his lighthouse, guiding each other through life. He was a proud United States veteran of the Navy and the Army. He worked for the Boston Globe for many years as a foreman until retiring. John was Mr. Fix-It, always working on projects with wood working, mechanical engineering, or anything that needed to be done around the house. He would sketch out the projects ahead of time and was very precise and detail oriented, never missing a step. He loved taking long walks and enjoyed the simple things in life. He was very proud of his natural jet black hair that he still had up until the end. He was as skilled with his mind as he was with his hands, he enjoyed listening to Opera and reciting Shakespeare from memory. John was the most reliable and dependable man and always a true gentleman. He was caring, generous, and liked to laugh and had a mischievous side to him as well. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Devoted husband of 63 years to the late Joan G. Spillane (Green). Loving father of Kathryn J. O'Mara and her husband Edward of Plymouth, John F. Spillane Jr. and his wife Mary of Norwell, Joanmarie (Jody) Spillane of Quincy, Michael J. Spillane of Quincy, and Julieann Cirafice and her husband William of Hanover. Loving brother of the late Thomas J. Spillane S.J. and James C. Spillane. Cherished granddad of Kaitlin E. O'Mara of Plymouth, Lauren A. Tucci and her husband Eric of Duxbury, Edward G. (Teddy) O'Mara Jr. and his wife Kelsey of Plymouth, MaryKate J. Cook and her husband Adam of Hinesburg, VT, Caroline E. Spillane of Bend, OR, John F. Spillane III of Newport, RI, and Arianna K. Cirafice of Hanover. Devoted great-granddad of Peter E. Tucci, Edward G. (Trey) O'Mara III, Andrew T. Tucci, Theresa (Reese) and Rory O'Mara, and Clark Cook. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
