LESIN COMEAU Obituary

COMEAU, Lesin W. Passed away on Thursday, November 30. He was 81. Born in Natick, MA on January 13, 1936, he was the only child of William (Bill) and Elizabeth (Bess) Comeau. Les grew up in Everett, MA and attended Malden Catholic High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1954 to 1956. After leaving the Marines, Les joined IBM Corp. in 1956, retiring in 1987. Les had a distinguished 31 year career at IBM capped by an Outstanding Contribution Award for his work on the 360 virtual machine concept. After IBM, Les worked at Harvard Medical School for 2 years and then co-founded CLaM Associates in Cambridge, MA. He retired permanently in 1992 and moved to Tequesta, FL. His love of New England brought him back to Yarmouth, ME in his later years. Although he tried several hobbies throughout his life (gliding, biking, motorcycle riding) his lifelong passion was always the ocean and boats. He loved sailing on the Chesapeake Bay when he was younger and cruising in the British Virgin Islands. His favorite spot in Florida was on the back porch looking at the Intercoastal waterway. The son of a building supervisor, he also enjoyed restoring older boats including an 85 foot tugboat. Les is survived by his wife, SueAnn, his daughter, Donna Comeau, his son, Mark Comeau (Shengnan) and daughters, Renee Jarrell (David) and Leslie Comeau (Bill Wrisley). He will also be missed by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased in 2015 by his beloved dog, Cajun. A funeral mass will be held on January 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Community Church, 7321 Burkittsville Road, Middletown, MD.

We had only know Les for the last 13 years. We had both just moved into our vacation homes on the IntraCoastal in Florida. During that time we developed a special friendship. We enjoyed going to concerts and going to the local restaurants by boat.
Les was always the go to guy whenever any of the electronics didn't work and he would always ask me how to fix some thing or my opinion on how to do a project, then do it his way and then tell me he should of listened and done it my way and then he would laugh.
We were so blessed to have a great visit with Les and SueAnn at their home in Maine, enjoying Lobster and apple pie. We didn't know this would be our last .
He was a great friend and will truly be missed.

Am sorry for your loss of Les. I met him when I joined IBM at MIT in 1964 and worked with him in the Cambridge area until I transferred to Virginia. He always had a nice smile and supportive attitude in rour work environment. You have my sympathies.
