BLANKS, Robert Adams Jr. Age 88, of Marlborough, MA, passed away on April 6, 2021 of natural causes.

Robert, known as Bob, was born on July 17, 1932 to Robert Adams Blanks and Edith Look in Boston, MA. After growing up in Belmont, MA, he graduated Belmont High School and matriculated to Vanderbilt University. He joined Kappa Sigma fraternity and graduated in 1953 with a degree in Business Administration. Vanderbilt and its sports teams remained one of his passions for the rest of his life.

After graduation, Bob spent two years in the military, the Army's 218th Chemical Battalion, reaching the rank of 1st Lieutenant before being honorably discharged. After the military, Bob got his first job with the Genesco company who owned Bonwit Teller and was soon married going on to have two children, Robert and Jamie Blanks. Bob spent the majority of his working years with Bonwit Teller culminating with his position as the General Manager of the Boston store, where he worked with such designers as Calvin Klein and Yves St. Laurent when they were just getting started in the fashion industry. Bob was an avid sports fan, especially football, and poker player, spending more than a little time at Foxwoods. In his late thirties and early forties, he always looked forward to the annual Thanksgiving football game with the Box Toppers. He was quick to make friends and share a joke. As a father, he instilled the same love of sports in his sons as well as his competitive nature. This made for some hotly contested family tennis matches.

Bob was predeceased by his longtime partner, Jane Mutty. He is survived by his son, Robert Blanks of Auburndale, MA, his wife Carolyn, and their children, Sarah and Nathaniel; and his two grandchildren, Avery Cora and Emmett Robert; as well as his son, Jamie Blanks of Scituate, MA and his wife Dana, and their children, Cameron, Emma and Ethan. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Vanderbilt University at https://vanderbilt.alumniq.com/giving/to/general The family plans to hold a Private Memorial Service in the future. Mr. Blanks,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the U.S. Army during the Cold War. Millions of Americans slept safe at night because you and your fellow Servicemen stood ready to defend our Country. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
