I have just learned of the passing of my very dear friend and professional colleague. Win epitomized those highest of values espoused by DEC...and practiced those extraordinary qualities so lacking in our world today. He was an icon of excellence and a template for loyalty, family values, honesty, quiet humor, and intellect. I join many many others who will miss him dearly...but retain his memory always. My deepest condolences to his family.

Our deepest condolences to Win's Family! Win earned my utmost respect when I was at DEC and I never missed an opportunity to speak with him when we passed each other in the Mill or the numerous events we attended as ex-DECcies. His presence will be sorely missed, but his influence will never be forgotten. He was a truly great man and mentor.

Win always embodied the true spirit of Digital. He was a mentor, boss and friend. During Digital's turbulent later years, he lead a focus on Business Ethics to help his beloved company stay on course during the storms. I was privileged to work with him at that time. We continued to remain friends. I cherish the memories of our last lunch just a few months ago

After his retirement from DEC, Win spoke several times in my classes in management at the Sloan School at MIT. The students loved it. He lived and exhibited the style and personality that others have known from his success in managing and relating to people.
Win was a regular in counting the birds at his feeder for our annual Christmas bird count in Concord, an interest on a different dimension for this multi-talented man.

Win was a Gentle Giant that provided calm and customer confidence in Digital. As a Senior Executive he "always" found time to attend District Customer visits at Corporate. His presence at the meetings was an inspiration both to Customer and Organization. Our condolences to the Family

Win was one of those unique individuals with a true sense of ethics. He embodied Dec;s long tradition of "Doing The Right Thing". Every time I had the privileged to meet with him, not only did he provide with good guidance but through his questioning help me arrive at the right conclusion after self inspection.
I also had the opportunity to share with him personal moments at our favorite island in Nantucket. He loved Nantucket, and he loved Sciasconset. Those were truly unique and special moments.
My heart felt condolences to the family. A great loss for the world. He will surely be missed.

Win was always ready to listen to my troubles and offer some words of encouragement and counsel during my 24 years at Digital. I think he must of have the source of "do the right thing for customers and employees" which permeated the Digital culture. He was often the anchor in a sea of turbulence. His wisdom, kind words, and ready smile will be greatly missed.

I got to know and admire Win during my 20 years at DEC. Win was one of the most, if not THE most respected senior executives at DEC. Win was always the voice of calm and reason. He never had an organization with a cast of thousands but had a degree of influence that suggested otherwise. DEC. and the world was a better because of Win. He will be missed. I will miss him.
