Sincerest Sympathy
January 06, 2018
Dearest Louise and Barrett Family,

I would be less than grateful, to not pay tribute to your Dad...

If you don't mind, I would like to take a moment to celebrate his life. To me, he was a formidable Patriarch, Leader, Teacher, Mentor and Friend. Although, it has been nearly 40 years ago. He took the time to listen, and
answer many of my need to know questions as my esteemed Sunday School Teacher. It was
never an imposition that I was aware of. For him to stay after class, and have a heart to heart discussion. His library of knowledge of a vast array of topics, left one nearly speechless. I recall thinking, he was on the level of an Albert Einstein intellect.

I remember how he would quote from memory, the entire Christmas Story in scripture from the pulpit. Some would comment in amazement, on his Photographic Memory. But
each year as he would slowly walk up to the podium, and lay his unopened Bible down. To deliver the story of the birth of our Savior. A powerful reverence filled the chapel, as he ushered in this sacred event. He made our Christmas very special, as he would transport by spoken word, the entire congregation to the Holy Land. I have thought of him every Christmas, for 40 years...

He divinely delivered my Patriarchal Blessing, when I came of age.

Ever the Master Teacher, he petitioned Heaven on my behalf. I watched him carefully prepare spiritually, as he engaged the Almighty in an attitude of prayer. He gave me choice instructions prior, and after. It has been a guide, and a comfort through my journey in this life.

Much could be written about the many LDS pillars, and true defenders of the faith in Bozeman. From time to time, I see the Obituaries of the Saints who have moved onto the next life. That made an indelible, and profound contribution to the youth of our time.

To you Louise, I want to thank you for being such a dear, and important friend. To
your family, thank you for sharing your Father with us.

As you Louise, he influenced our lives for good. Your sweet Mother is a true jewel, and I still laugh about her resistance to the concept of Polygamy. How she would...Never! Share your Dad with another. Even though she was not called on, to practice such. Her definitive posture
on the subject, made many smile. Her love for your Father, was without question. Your Dad was a giant among men, and it takes years of living to truly appreciate what he is, and was. I so enjoyed his sense of humor, and boisterous laugh.

In closing, may you now enjoy your well deserved eternal inheritance, of a life well lived Patriarch Barrett. You worked in the Lord's Vineyard with aplomb, conviction, and devotion. You inspired, and taught the minds of needy generations. We are in your debt, as you indeed blessed our lives with wisdom.

May you find peace, and unceasing joy from everlasting to everlasting in your mansion on high.

Leaving much more that could be written, and said. Suffice it to say...

Until we meet again, at the Savior's feet O' Great One.

Most Sincerely,

Michael Cutler

You were a great father to my best friend! Full of wisdom and spunk. You were stern with words and loved to make your point. Funny and unforgettable. So glad to have your family part of my life. You will be truly missed! Hearts are with you and your family. Nyla Miller

So sad for your loss. He was a great man and so very, very intelligent. He was head and shoulders above the rest of us. And he liked to fish. Don't forget that.
