Jacquelyn Ballard-Church-Miller
Jacquelyn Ballard-Church-Miller, of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of West Virginia, died on April 11, 2018. She was born in Red House, WV on October 27, 1927. She graduated Charleston High School (1945). She then obtained her Bachelor's degree from Los Angles State University and she obtained her Master's degree at Marshall University, Huntington WV. She taught elementary school in Ohio, California, and Florida. She was an administrator with Job Corps, war on poverty in West Virginia. She then retired from the Manatee County school system. She was an ordained Metaphysical Minister which enabled her to perform over 300 weddings in Florida, Tennessee, Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. She was a founder or founding member of numerous organizations, and spiritual centers including her own center known as the Garden of Life in Bradenton, Florida. She was the founder of the Manasota chapter of the American Association of Dowsers. During her last years she was co-founder, along with husband, Tom of the UFO and Paranormal group West Florida which eventually became The Alternative Thinkers Group.
She is preceded in death by parents, James K. and Roma Ballard; brother, Plymal S. Ballard, and sister, Ruth J. Rawlings. In addition to husband, Thomas H. Miller of Bradenton, she is survived by daughter, Jill E. Ballard and granddaughter, Sabina E. Grunbaum of San Francisco, CA; nephew, Rod Rawlings (Patty) of Bradenton, niece, Serene Locas (Greg) and their two sons, Colton and Cash also of Bradenton; niece, Erica Rawlings of Los Angeles, CA, James R. Ballard (Mary) of Hendersonville, NC., and numerous nephews, nieces, grand, and great-grand nephews and nieces from Florida to Georgia, West Virginia, Ohio, and Texas.
Although she retired from teaching almost thirty years ago, she never quit teaching, as all of us her knew her will confirm.
Her ashes will be interred between her parents graves in the Palmetto City Cemetery, and a Memorial/Celebration of Life will be held at The Meadowcroft Condominium Clubhouse on Saturday, July 7, 2018, conducted by the Reverend Doctor Toni LaMatta. All arrangements are being handled by Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel of Bradenton, Florida. Condolences may be made to www.brownandsonsfuneral.com
