Dale Shawk
BUCYRUS: Dale Herman Shawk, 57, of rural Bucyrus died Monday evening, December 11, 2017 at his farm from injuries sustained in a work accident.
He was born in Bucyrus on January 18, 1960 to Donald and Nancy (Wolf) Shawk. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Colonel Crawford High School in 1978. He was active in 4-H and FFA as a youth and supported both organizations throughout his life as a parent, advisor and livestock judge. He earned bachelor's and master's degrees in Animal Science from The Ohio State University and was a passionate, dedicated, and hard-working farmer. He married Victoria Jo Linn on February 17, 1990.
Dale loved his Lord, family, and farm. He seldom took vacations as there was always work to do, but did get away with Victoria on occasion. He enjoyed helping his sons with their 4-H projects and was quite the handyman, keeping his home and farm in good working order. He was a member of Bucyrus United Methodist Church where he served as an usher and helped with the children's ministry. He was associated with several groups over the years including the Cattlemen's Association, Soybean Association, Soil & Water District, and Farm Bureau.
Dale is survived by his parents, Don and Nancy; wife of 27 years, Victoria; two sons, Duane Shawk and Dwight Shawk; sister, Linda (John) Stentz and their daughters, Sarah Stentz (daughter Autumn), Melissa (Carlos) Alegria (son Enzo), and Laura Stentz; father-in-law, Gene (Joann) Linn; mother-in-law, Marilyn (Millard) Meade; sister-in-law, Diana (Tim) Shroll and their children, Josh and Ashley; brother-in-law, Daniel (Teea) Linn and their son, Danny; aunt, Sandra (Allen) Schiefer; and cousins.
Dale's family will receive friends on Friday, December 15 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bucyrus UMC Worship Center, 227 S. Walnut St., where his funeral will be held Saturday at 10:30 am with Pastor Mike Corwin officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made payable to Bucyrus UMC or Crawford County 4-H and given through Wise Funeral Service. Memories can be shared on Dale's page at www.wisefuneral.com.

I am so sorry to hear of Dale's passing. He was so good about bringing big hay bales to my horse farm. He was such a good man and worked hard. Let God comfort and strengthen you in your time of loss.

The Mid Ohio District United Methodist Retirees offer our sympathy to Marilyn Meade and the Shawk family at the loss of Dale. Gere and I were married in Akron by the Rev. Willard J. Shawk, an uncle of Dale's August 6, 1954.
