James L. Harmons
Tiro - James L. Hamons, age 93, resident of Tiro, Ohio passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Pristine Senior Living in Willard, Ohio. He was born in Allock, Kentucky on December 31, 1923 to the late James and Hattie (Barnett) Hamons, raised in Willard, Ohio, and had been a Tiro resident most of his life. He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, serving during WW II. James enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, but most of all, spending time with his family.
He is survived by four sons and daughter-in-law's, Paul Edward and Violet Hamons of Carrothers, Jerry Lee and Alice Hamons of Delphi, Larry Grant and Phyllis Hamons of Attica and David Ray and Suzie Hamons of Collins, Ohio; two daughters and sons-in-law's, Phyllis June and Dale Newmeyer of Attica and Rosalie and Randall Steiner of Tiffin; twenty one grandchildren; thirty six great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife in 2005, Virginia D. (Pine) Hamons; parents, James and Hattie (Barnett) Hamons; four brothers, Paul Hamons, Silas Hamons, Ronald Hamons and Donald Hamons; sister, Allean Adams; two half sisters, Ruth Lockhart and Joyce Howard.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM and 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Secor Funeral Home in Willard, where the funeral service will be Friday, December 29, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Charles Brooks officiating. Military rites will be included in the service. Burial will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Tiro/Auburn Volunteer Fire Department. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.secorfuneralhomes.com
