It was a beautiful service today.
I was an associate at Glenn's firm in 1975 and 1976 and learned much from him.

Dear Mitchell Family,

It was with sadness that I heard the news from my mother that your beloved Glenn has moved on to the great concert hall/golf course in the hereafter. But it was with joy that I read about his long life well-lived and the large wonderful family he raised. And all these years I had not known he was a fellow St. John's Cadet!

We lived across the street from you on Devilwood for a few years, and I have fond memories of the time I spent with Chris at your house, down at the creek, with the Shanahans, and elsewhere. I visited you in Chevy Chase a couple times. You all took me to my first ballet, the Nutcracker, and we often got tickets to the NSO to catch Maestro Howard in action. Looking back, your family's love of music was my earliest inspiration to play an instrument, and I talked my parents into a piano and a clarinet. When last year at 57 I began studying the trumpet at Levine, I thought back to the day you played the Tijuana Brass down in your family room.

In 1966 after he met you folks, my father walked in and said, You should meet our neighbor Mitchell. He's a lawyer, and he tells me he's never won a case! Well, he probably won plenty over the years, and more importantly, he won at life. And I pray he's winning eternal happiness today. Godspeed to all of you! Chris, I work less than 4 blocks from you at 14th & L. When I recover from the medical problems I'm now facing, maybe I can catch you for lunch sometime.

Dear Mitchell Family,

I have fond memories of one summer (1961 or 1962, I believe), when I spent about a month in the family cottage at Thompson's Point helping out with household chores and babysitting some evenings for Christopher (Muffin, was it?) and Lorraine's two young boys (one was Greg, I think). I learned a lot from your family - not only to appreciate good music, but how a large, loving family works together and plays together. I took my first ever boat ride in the aluminum fishing boat with Glenn at the helm -- beautiful, with the sun setting over the lake. I never forgot how kind and thoughtful he always was - even to a young, somewhat ignorant farm girl like me. I am so grateful to have known your family, even for a short time. May God hold Glenn close to Himself now, and may God bless you all with Faith, Family, and Friends to lift you at this time of heartache.

My deepest condolences to the family. May you find strength and comfort from God's written word and from each other, during this most difficult time.
