So sorry for your loss Shirley. Can't imagine losing your husband after all of those years together. To the rest of the family he leaves behind; please be comforted knowing that from everything we've heard he was a wonderful man and you are his legacy left behind. God bless you all.

My sister and I remember Leon stopping at our farm in East Charlotte in the 60's to artificially inseminate our Holsteins. He let us borrow a beautiful horse for a summer.
We thank him for that.

When I was a little boy, I was in the back seat of Leon's car in the church parking lot. Prior to us leaving the priest came along to bless the cars. Leon asked the priest how fast can I go with this blessing. The priest replied that he could go 50 mph. Leon said bless it again so that I could go 100!

My condolences,
Garry and Vera Schoolcraft

Dear Shirley & Family, We are so sad to read about the passing of Leon. We were delivering meals on wheels when Leon was & he was always ready to help out. Our granddaughter, at the time, was maybe 4 or 5 years old & Leon was giving wagon rides with his big draft horses. He let her sit up front with him & he talked to her about the horses & she thought that was very special. He will be missed by everyone that knew him.
