ZIMMEL, Deborah Marie
1958 - 2015
Beloved wife, mother and friend Deborah Marie Zimmel passed away suddenly September 26, 2015 at the young age of 57. Deborah's loving heart will be remembered by her husband David, her lovely daughters Genna and Lyndsay, her extended family, especially her brother-in-law Terry Zimmel and many dear friends. She was born in New Waterford, Nova Scotia on July 31, 1958, the second oldest of nine children, to Malcolm and Marie McNeil. Upon graduation she moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba then Edmonton, Alberta working in advertising. There she met her husband David and on February 23, 1985 they were married. They celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary this year. On April 20, 1988 they were blessed with the birth of their first daughter Genna Barbara and almost three years later, on April 11, 1991 their second daughter Lyndsay Marie was born. To Deborah, her daughters became her life. She loved them so much. She loved being a mom. David and Deborah raised their daughters in Edmonton and in 2006 moved to Springbank, Calgary. Deborah cherished her husband, daughters and the many communities she was so much a part of. She touched so many lives in profound ways. Her smile, thoughtfulness and unique ability to care so intimately for others touched her family and friends every day. She truly was a "very special gift from God" that will be deeply missed. A personal thank you from the family to her true friends: Cindy, Shannon, Kathy, Terri, Carol, Melody, Karina, and many others who supported Deborah endlessly throughout her illness the past two years. A Celebration of Deborah's Life will be held at Eden Brook Funeral Home (17th Avenue and Lower Springbank Road S.W.) on Sunday, October 4, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Donations if desired can be sent in memory of Deborah directly to Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation (PO Box 204, Norwood, NJ, 07648, info@tnbcfoundation.org). Condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.edenbrookcemetery.ca. Arrangements entrusted to EDEN BROOK FUNERAL HOME AND RECEPTION CENTRE.

Deb, it's been almost a year and I miss you just as much.
Going to the next MNP meeting will not be the same. One of my best memories of you was watching you come down the escalator in Chicago. You were laughing and you looked so beautiful. I remember thinking, all is well. I was wrong.
Miss you forever.

Dave, Genna and Lyndsay, sorry for your loss. It seems like yesterday that we were sitting around the pool at Krohman's chatting and laughing about some of the extraordinary grammar that Deb picked up from Cape Breton. Ever since then we have integrated some of those sayings into our daily vocabulary. In Fort Saskatchewan you were great neighbors hopefully we can realize that promise again.
Regards, Tim, Wendy, Allister and Leighton Price.

We are extremely saddened to hear of Debbie's passing. Debbie shone a light of love into our home when our twins were born - one with a serious heart defect. During his early weeks, and surgeries, Debbie brought a gift of lovely comfort in Pj's for the boys. We didn't know Debbie very well, and that gesture of love for a family deep in worry, almost strangers to Debbie, remains one of the most meaningful gestures during our difficult time. We hope that sharing this story back shines a small amount of light back into your hearts. May you find comfort over time in the special person in Debbie, and the impact she made on so many, ourselves included. sending love and sincere sympathy - the Kuntze's
