Inez Qualls

Corpus Christi - On February 14, 2021, Ola Inez Qualls, 94, of Corpus Christi went to be with her Lord. She was born in 1926 in Weston, Texas to Tom and Lillian (Pope) Bell.

Inez had a lengthy and fulfilling career with the Tuloso-Midway ISD from 1970 until her retirement in 2001. She was loved by several generations of students, teachers and staff, and as she loved to tell everyone, "I ran that school."

She was an avid sports fan, particularly college football, and enjoyed spending her Saturdays in the fall watching her beloved OU Sooners. Inez loved listening to music, particularly country and Christian. She was a long time member of the Tuloso-Midway Baptist Church.

Inez was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, and her parents, Tom and Lillian. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Danny and Betsy Qualls; grandsons Christopher (Lyndsi) and Eric (Elena); great-grandson Trevor; sister, Peggy Sue Thomas; along with numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.

Special thanks to Rick and Sandra Staley who spent decades of Sundays visiting with her and attending to any of her particular needs.

The family wishes to extend our appreciation to Peggy Gaona and the staff at Brookdale Trinity Towers for the care you gave to Inez.

Visitation at Sawyer-George Funeral Home will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 from 5:00PM - 7:00PM. Services for Inez will be private, as the family wishes to protect all loved ones during this unprecedented time. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Another angel got her wings; now it's her time to fly.

Funeral Services have been entrusted to: Sawyer-George Funeral Home, 12497 Leopard St. Corpus Christi, Texas 78410. 361-242-3205. www.sawyergeorgefuneralhome.com

My Aunt Nez was one of my favorite people in my life. She was like second Mother to me. Her love of family inspires me to this day. She married my father's brother( she would say because she had to be close to my Mom Bobbye who lived across the street until moving to California after the war).
I remember many summer vacations running across the street from my Granny Nora's house to Bell house to find the best goodies. Those memories were filled with love, FOOD, and family. I had cousins I didn't even know I had. When I married and had to move to Ft. Hood, Uncle Bill & Nez wouldn't hear of it! I stayed with them for months and had my best private cooking lessons. I got use to Danny pounding on the piano when Inez would make him practice. Those were some of my finest memories. It is so difficult to say goodbye to our love ones especially ones that really made a difference. Ola (I never knew that was her first name!) Inez Qualls, RIP my 2nd Mom, give my love toMom & Dad, and kiss Ryan for me.

Mrs. Qualls, I will always remember your smile and your kind words for both my parents when I would see you after their passing. Love to the Qualls family. It was great growing up in a "small town" setting and knowing that it is true that it does certainly take a village to raise children. Between the refinery and school, I always knew their were eyes on me and did my best to keep myself out of trouble...I surely know Mrs. Qualls was definitely one set of those wonderful eyes! May she rest in peace in the arms of the Lord
