M. Margaret Shurbet
Corpus Christi, TX
By sunrise on July 12, 2018, M. Margaret Boland Shurbet, had passed into her eternal home, and was with the Lord and all those that have gone before her. She was 89 years old, born on September 6, 1928 in Dallas, Texas, to Carl and Leola Boland and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas, graduating from Corpus Christi High School in 1946. Married for 42 years, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy J. Shurbet, a veteran of WWII, her parents, her brother, Thomas Boland, and one granddaughter, Amy Wallace Estrada.
She is survived by her five children, Richard Shurbet (Diana), Carla Wallace (Danny), Susan Cearley (Ken), Andi Estes (Monte), Mark Shurbet (Valerie), 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, her brother, Charles Ray Boland, and a large extended family.
Our mother loved people, loved to talk, and loved her children as the greatest joy in her life. She always told us, "We don't have much money but we are rich in love." When we were young she was a Cub Scout Den Mother, PTA President, and the mom who could stretch her menu to feed our friends at the family table. As we grew older she became a working mother, then after retirement she became an avid reader, gardener and bird watcher. To dispel the grief of losing her husband in 1990, and as a proud resident of the city, she became involved in the Corpus Christi Visitor Information Center, the Corpus Christi Sparklers, Corpus Christi Botanical Gardens, and the Nueces County Historical Society. Having been raised in the Sunshine Community of Corpus Christi she organized numerous reunions through the years, was involved in organizing the Sunshine Cemetery Association, and served as a Trustee and Secretary for decades.
She was the kind of person that maintained lifelong relationships, holding close her aunts and uncles, cousins, neighbors, and many friends, especially her closest friend, "Pete" Sadler, who she always said was the sister she never had.
Our family will never forget the love and kindness shown by medical caregivers in her later years. The team at AAdi Home Health allowed her to maintain her independence at home for many years. In the last weeks of mother's life we were so blessed by the special care given by the staff of Palma Real Transitional Care Center in Mathis. Then, in her last days no one could have surpassed the quality of care and comfort our mother and our family received from the AAdi Hospice Team
A Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 15 at Seaside Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 16 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunshine Cemetery on Woodridge at Rodd Field Road. www.seasidefuneral.com

I remember your mom. She was rich in love and had a way to get Ricky and I to toe the line. Mom and Dad, Ruthie and Walter Boyer were very close friends when we were growing up. God bless your mom. I will remember her in my prayers.
