Martha Jo Cummins
Hertford, NC
Martha Jo Raney Cummins, 75 of 230 Bald Eagle Point Drive, Hertford, NC died Sunday, October 22, 2017 at her residence. She was born February 11, 1942 in Daviess, IN to the late Joseph Raney and Luella Campbell Raney and was the wife of fifty-four years of Donald Cummins of the residence. She was a teacher, counselor, and a published author, and a member of Town South Church of Christ. She maintained a strong faith in Christ throughout her life. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
In addition to her husband she is survived by two daughters, Christina Lynn Lovingfoss of Santa Clarita, CA and Kelly Jo Hampton (Charles) of Chesapeake, VA; a half-sister, Carolyn Powers of IN; and five grandchildren, Connor Lovingfoss, Logan Lovingfoss, Kaitlyn Lovingfoss, Breanna Hampton, and Riley Hampton. She was pre-deceased by her foster parents, Wallace and Lorraine Hastings.
No services are planned at this time. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942. Martha was one of the most caring and genuine persons I have ever known. Heaven gained an angel on October 22. My prayers are with the families who will forever keep her in their memories.
