I just learned of Bobby passing, I knew something was wrong when I didn't hear from him on my birthday, he's never missed one, ever. I reluctantly asked my husband to look for him here. I am just heartbroken.
Bobby was one of my closest friends for 27 years. We talked just four weeks before he passed. He had been with his Mom and called her his angel on earth.
I brought my husband to meet Bobby 20 years ago. His opinion meant the world to me, and I wanted them to know each other, because I knew they would become friends as well, they are very much alike.
I will miss him so very much. I pray for mercy and grace for the family, I'm so sorry for this incredible loss. The world feels different without him in it. Since I just found out yesterday, it's very new and raw.
He was a faithful, loyal and loving son, father, and grandfather. And an amazing friend! He loved his boys!! All of them so much!
I miss him so much, but I'm forever thankful for his life and love and friendship, and I know ... Absent in the body, present with Lord. We will meet again. Blessings to the family, you're in our prayers,

Darrell...So sorry to learn of your Dad's passing. He was my Delta Sig brother since our UT days in the early '70's. We've kept in touch through most the years since.

Your parents lived two houses down from us in Anderson Mill in the mid-late 70s. Our first son, James, was born in '76 and you were maybe 1 or 2. I have fond memories of watching many Longhorn games at your home which dwarfed into impromptu parties lasting well into the next morning.

I've always been a huge Longhorn fan, but your dad took it a step further by naming you after Darrell Royal, then you naming your son after Mack Brown.

In college we call him either "Slow" because he was always, calm, cool and collected or "Sloe" after Sloe Gin. "The Rusty Nail" (me) frequently talked to "Whiskey Breath" on the way to work in those silly CB years.

Your dad and I both ended up in San Antonio and stayed in touch mostly via our monthly Delta Sig lunches. Faithful to his nickname, Slow was always late. He took the longest time to eat his meal. Our conversations were long, not due to content, but because Slow spoke so slowly.

I'll miss you dad. He was a friend to many and a brother to many more. He spoke fondly of his Longhorn son and grandson. My sympathies to you and your family.
