Nancy Payne Obituary

Nancy Payne

Georgetown, TX

Nancy Arlene Payne, 83, passed away January 15, 2017, with her family by her side in Dallas, Texas.

Nancy was born on January 26, 1933. She grew up in Kingsville, Texas and married her high school sweetheart, Billy Payne, in 1950. They raised four children together. She took the four children to church every Sunday, where she taught Sunday School. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, wife, and mother, always giving of herself.

Nancy was an active member of the Kingsville Women's Club for many years, where she also served as President of that chapter. She was very proud of all the good work that was done and has always been an avid supporter. Nancy was very active in the South Texas District of the Texas Federation of Women's Clubs. Again serving on many committees, and as every one of the elected officers including two terms as President, 1990-92 and 1998-2000.

Nancy was elected to at least four different terms as a Trustee of the Historic Foundation, which is the Board entrusted with the up-keep of the historic home of the Texas Federation of Women's Clubs in Austin. She served several times as Secretary, and then as Chairman, in 2004. She served in many, many capacities in the State organization during her membership in this great organization. She was recognized for her exemplary service and dedication by being elected a State Life Member in 2005, an honor granted to only a few members.

Nancy was a member of the Presidents' Council of Corpus Christi, the Woman's Monday Club, the Corpus Christi City Federation, and the Past District Presidents' Club serving as an officer in most of these groups. She is well-known by Texas Club Women as hard-working, qualified, loyal, dedicated, and a great example of a TRUE TEXAS CLUBWOMAN.

She is survived by her husband, Billy Payne; four children: Randy Payne, Ray Payne, Clayton Payne, and Laurie Evans; eleven grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.

Her funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m. in Georgetown, Texas on January 21, 2017, at the Ramsey Funeral Home. 5600 Williams Drive. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, January 25, 2017, in Corpus Christi, Texas, at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery. 9974 I-37 Access Rd, Corpus Christi.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Kingsville Woman's Club.
