Today I was privileged to attend the funeral of a very extraordinary lady, Dr Angela Worthington. My condolences to Angela's Husband and children on the devastating loss of their wife and mother, also to all her family, friends and colleagues all of whom held her in high esteem.
Angela was my cardiologist from 2016 for a complex degenerative heart/lung disease, spending much of her precious family time attending to me at Newcastle private on weekends or traveling back from much needed holiday breaks, for which I am truly grateful. After

discussing my prognosis Angela always the straight shooter told me, if I were 20 years younger she would have me on a heart/lung transplant list, this was difficult news to digest. However, Angela's dedication to her patients well being was evident in her next comment Stan, I promise you I will do everything in my power to give you the best quality of life possible for as long as you need. Well Angela you have succeeded. My heart may not be as beautiful or beats as well as Dave's but it is still beating, you kept your promise. Your passing has left me truly devastated like no other event I have experienced. You gave me 2 to 5 years while you succumbed to the debilitating MND in 5 months.
The old adage says only the good die young and Angela you were the best!
Vale Angela

Angela has been my cardiologist since 2015. As a result of an accident, I had to have my jaw reconstructed. On the 15th of August last year I called her for advice, she replied the next day, wished me well and said everything will be alright.
Sixteen days later, I arrived home to a message that said, due to illness Dr Worthington has ceased to practice, the blow could not have been harder.
I learned of her passing yesterday. My wife and I, have been greatly affected by her illness and passing. We will forever miss this beautiful welcoming smile, this elegant lady with her red hair. She was so compassionate, so caring, she was passionate about her job. She was the best and we will never forget her.
Much love and deepest condolences to her family. I have been a very lucky man to have met her at the Mater hospital in 2015.
Rest in peace beautiful LADY.

Angela was my Cardiologist for only a short time after I had a blood clot on the lung in 2018 but she was without doubt the best doctor I have ever met.
Doctor Worthington was not only highly efficient, talented and witty but she genuinely cared about her patients.
Angela motivated me to be positive about my future rather than feel depressed about my lot in life. Angela certainly changed my outlook on life and I believe that she saved my life. I will miss her very much.
My condolences to Angela's family. She will never be forgotten. We are so lucky to have had such a brilliant person in our lives.
