I knew Richard through his leadership roles in the forestry sector and am deeply saddened by his untimely passing. I really admired Richard – always open and engaging, sharp of mind, thoughtful in response, and wise in counsel. We will miss him greatly. Our thoughts are with Richard's family as they grieve and celebrate his life.

My deepest sympathies to Sonia and her girls on the sad loss of "dodgy" as we knew him. He was a very kind soul and will be sorely missed

My deepest sympathy to Sonia and family. I have worked with Richard over the years and found him to be a consummate professional, very helpful and kind. Richard and Sonia have generously supported the humanitarian work we do in Malawi. Our prayers are with you.

I am extremely grateful to Richard for his support of Australian forestry students. I would not have had the same opportunities without his input. His passing is a great loss, and my sincere condolences to his family.

Richard and I worked together when he was with APIC, through the A3P years, and then briefly when he joined AFS. He was a tireless advocate for the forest industry, open and honest, smart yet humble, always enjoyable to work with, and a committed family man. We shared a passion for cycling but never managed to ride together. The tragic news last week was a shock. Our world would indeed be a better place if more shared his attributes. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I was fortunate to live at Bruce Hall at the same time as Richard back in the 80's. "Roge", as he was known by those living at the Hall, was as committed to Forestry & sustainability then as he was at the time of his passing. I recall a sweet and sincere young man whose determined and gentle soul endeared him to many. Deepest sympathy to Sonia, Emma, Julia, his family and many friends.

Richard was a quietly spoken, genuine person who will be missed. I very much enjoyed working with Richard in his various roles since 1997. I valued his counsel.
Deepest sympathies to Sonia, Emma and Julia.

A tragic loss for all - his family, his friends and the forest industry.

Our deepest sympathies to the Stanton family at this tragic time. Richard was a rock of a man and an inspiration to us all.
