Arlene May Daugherty, 81, passed away on October 29, 2016 at Carroll Hospital . Born June 11, 1935 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late William and Helen (Ratzinger) Ellis. She was the beloved wife of Charles R. Daugherty, her husband of 61 years. They resided in Hampstead for 30 years. She enjoyed functions at the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 200, Hampstead with her husband and contributed to many veterans organizations. Arlene loved cooking and doing yard work and taking care of her family and having family cookouts. She like watching baseball and football. She loved being around animals, especially dogs. In her earlier years, she used to play softball and loved bowling. Prior to retirement, she had worked in the warehouse at Random House. Surviving in addition to her husband are sons, Charles R. Daugherty, Jr. of Hampstead, MD, Robert J. Daugherty of Glenville, PA, Donald N. Daugherty of White Hall, MD. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Youngest of seven, she was predeceased by her siblings. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 3, 2016 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m.at ELINE FUNERAL HOME, 934 S. Main Street, Hampstead, MD. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Hampstead Cemetery.
