Evelyn Hancock Fisher (age 86) of New Windsor, MD, wife of 44 years to John (Jack) Fisher, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 21, 2017. Evelyn was born in Suffield, CT and was raised in Warehouse Point. She married in 1950 and spent her life supporting her husband, family, and friends. In 1954, she and Jack moved the family to Albuquerque, NM, and then to Maryland in 1957. Beginning in the 1970s, they spent their summers at Groton Long Point, CT, where many fond memories endure. She enjoyed her travels with Jack to such destinations as Greece, Turkey, and Austria. She was an accomplished cook and loved Dixieland and Big Band music. Evelyn is survived by her daughter Lois Dollar of Los Angeles, CA; Linda Johnson of New Windsor, MD; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Jack, daughter Pamela Wrightsman, grandson Ryan Wrightsman, and sister Lois Richmond. She will be remembered for her unending love and quiet generosity. Most of all, we will miss her witty sense of humor. The family will hold a private memorial service in her honor. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Nature Conservancy in support of the Lower Connecticut River tidal wetlands.
